Workshops, Classes, and Private Consultations for the 2011 Cruise

Workshop 1: CranioSacral Therapy
In this workshop we will explore the CranioSacral Rhythm, with a frequency of 7-12 cycles/minute in our body. Not many people are aware of this rhythmic widening and narrowing of the skull, nourishing our brain. The rhythm spreads through the entire body and can be felt anywhere. After a meditation to prepare our mind, we will - with a partner - explore this life-giving rhythm. Then a short review will be given of the structure of the bones and inner membranes in the skull. These as well as other tissues in the body will be affected by our gentle touch so that symptoms, such as headaches, neck and back aches, may be relieved, and restrictions due to accidents, birth problems, and other traumas may be alleviated. After the review, a demonstration will be given of a typical CranioSacral Therapy session.

Workshops 2: Do-In Self-Massage Therapy
In the morning do-in classes we will start with a guided meditation to quiet the mind and create harmony between body and mind. Some mornings we will start with a healing waterfall or pyramid meditation, use our breath to calm the various parts of our body-mind system, or practice the inner smile and healing sound meditations from the Taoist tradition to express our gratitude and nourish our inner organs, such as the lungs, liver, heart, kidneys, etc.

Following the meditation we may do special breathing exercises, practice the meridian stretches, rotate our joints, massage our body, and tap the twelve basic organ meridians to invigorate and send life energy (chi) to our vital organs. We will also learn the healing power of special acupressure points to alleviate stiffness and pain and strengthen our body.

Class: Morning Meditation Practice
To wake up our body and mind we will start the morning meditation with a few physical stretches and breathing exercises. Then we will practice sitting and walking meditation. In a guided meditation - sitting on chairs - we will quiet our mind and bring attention to our whole self -- our body, feelings and mind. In the walking meditation we will practice silent, slow, mindful walking to get in touch with our body sensations in movement and with the ocean as well as with our earth. We will end with a brief sitting meditation.

CranioSacral Therapy - $150/person.
Automobile and other injuries, misalignment of vertebrae, emotional stress and tension can create blockage and imbalance in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid that nourishes the brain and spinal cord. CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive technique that aims to release energy blocks and restore a healthy craniosacral rhythm (7-12 cycles/min). It may benefit those suffering from migraine headaches, neck and back pains, sinus problems, brain and spinal injuries, somato-emotional and other problems. For many people this is a deeply relaxing and powerful healing experience. A session lasts an hour, and is conducted fully dressed on a massage table.

Macrobiotic Shiatsu/Acupressure - $150/person.
The goal of Macrobiotic Shiatsu is to restore health and a balanced flow of life energy (chi/ki) in the body. Applying pressure along the twelve organ meridians and using joint rotations and stretches, the practitioner promotes the natural ability of the body to heal itself, and helps to restore the optimal flow of energy and blood to the vital organs. Besides boosting the immune system, increasing energy levels, relieving back pain, improving digestion, and reducing stiffness and tensions, the treatment usually leads to an overall feeling of lightness, wholeness, and inner harmony. A session lasts an hour, and is conducted fully dressed on a massage table.
