Vegetarian Group - Start your own Vegetarian Group
Quick and easy methods for running your own Vegetarian group
Vegetarian Group Structure
When I played soccer as a kid, my coach had a unique philosophy on team leadership. In the early stages of any group, it's extremely difficult to find someone with the time and discipline to maintaining group cohesion. I believe in a very organic method to group structure. Guided by a mutually-reinforced mission of health, wellness and environmental awareness, a vegetarian group can shrink and grow along with membership interest. Might I suggest a rotating group leader established during a prior meeting? Subjects and guided discussions will be the responsibility of the vegetarian group leader. An important rule is to make every member feel like they’re a part of the vegetarian group, especially new and first-time members. They will be your ambassadors on which your group will grow and diversify.
Vegetarian Group Location
Centrally located in most cities, Library, schools, and community centers should be considered the prime locations for holding a vegetarian group meeting. Depending on the size of the group, I would suggest the Goldilocks Rule - find a location that’s not too big that it dwarfs the size of your group, but not too small that things become crowded and difficult to move. You want your vegetarian group meeting place to be comfortable, yet promote a sense of unity. However, if you run into the case where these locations aren’t available at the time needed, a member’s residence may be a viable substitute. Just make sure to offer clear and easy to follow instructions along with any requirements the vegetarian group owner might have for using the space.
Vegetarian Group Schedule
The benefits of establishing a regular meeting time and date greatly outweigh the benefits of scheduling meetings from week-to-week. On one hand, you'll have certain members who can only attend meeting at a certain time, thus losing out on a willing membership-base. Scheduling week-to-week may seem like a great solution, but you'll lose out on a great word-of-mouth opportunity. (Prospect - “Sure I’d like to go to your vegetarian group meeting. When is it?” Member – “I’m not really sure. Let me see if they sent out an email and I’ll get back to you.”). When it comes down to it, prospects that care enough to attend a vegetarian group meeting will be more willing to plan ahead of time, and your regular attendees will appreciate the consistency that much more.
